Salad vegetables are fragile, light and often carry hidden sand. A good washing line should clean leaf folds without bruising the product, then remove enough surface water before packing or further processing.
Recommended Line Sections
A lettuce or salad line often includes manual sorting, cutting if needed, multi-stage bubble washing, spray rinsing, vibration draining, air drying and inspection. For fresh-cut operations, water removal is just as important as washing.
Multi-Stage Washing
One tank may not be enough when sand is hidden inside leaf folds. A two- or three-stage washing system improves cleanliness and keeps the final rinse cleaner. Conveyor speed, bubble intensity and water overflow should be adjustable.
Layout and Hygiene
The line should leave enough space for daily cleaning, screen removal and floor drainage. Stainless contact parts, open structure and smooth transfer points help reduce residue buildup.
