This Fiji turmeric project was designed for root crop washing, cutting and tray drying after harvest. Fresh turmeric has irregular surfaces and carries soil, so cleaning consistency is important before cutting.
Joyshine configured brush roller washing with high-pressure spray rinsing, uniform cutting and a 48-tray electric dryer. The process helped the customer test a 100kg batch and dry turmeric evenly while preserving the natural color.
Customer Requirements
- Soil removal - Clean turmeric before cutting
- Uniform cutting - Keep piece size consistent for even drying
- Batch drying - Dry turmeric in trays with controlled heating
- Color protection - Preserve natural turmeric color during drying
- Similar root crops - Allow processing of kava, cassava and taro when needed
Line Process Flow
- Brush washing - Remove soil from irregular turmeric surfaces
- Spray rinsing - High-pressure sprays rinse loosened impurities
- Cutting - Cut turmeric into uniform strips or pieces
- Tray loading - Load cut turmeric into drying trays
- Hot air drying - Dry with a 48-tray electric heating dryer
- Cooling and collection - Collect evenly dried turmeric
Installation and Results

- Test batch - Around 100kg fresh turmeric
- Drying time - About 13 hours for the test batch
- Final product - Uniformly dried turmeric with preserved natural color
- Flexibility - Suitable for turmeric and similar root crops
The washing, cutting and drying process makes our turmeric handling more consistent and easier to control.
